The Doctor's Office Quality Information Technology (DOQ-IT) project is a three-year, national quality improvement initiative to assist physicians who wish to purchase, implement and fully utilize electronic health records (EHRs) in their practices.

IPRO is providing New York State physicians participating in the DOQ-IT project with free assistance to select, implement, and optimize IT systems such as EHRs, e-prescribing, and registries. The DOQ-IT Identified Participant Group (IPG) includes approximately 350 adult primary care practices from across New York State. Although enrollment in the IPG is closed, our web-based DOQ-IT materials are available to all.

The goals of the project are to help physicians improve access to patient information, decision support, and reference data, as well as to enhance patient-physician communication, thereby improving the quality and safety of care given to Medicare beneficiaries.

Tools and resources for the DOQ-IT project, such as DOQ-IT University, an online structured curriculum for EHR acquisition and implementation, are available to participating and non-participating practices. These can be found in the DOQ-IT link within the Discussion Topics Section-Ambulatory Care at http://jeny.ipro.org. You are invited to download and use our project plan and tools.
