IPRO Clinical Topics, Tools & Resources

Nursing homes are a vital link in the health care continuum. Skilled and trained staff provide safe, resident-focused care and services, promote independence and create an environment that encourages residents to remain active and supports quality of life. IPRO and all other Medicare Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) are working to reduce rates of pressure ulcers and eliminate the use of physical restraints on residents.

Reducing Rates of High-Risk Pressure Ulcers

Pressure ulcers are an increasing problem among nursing home residents and account for huge expenses and dangerous - sometimes even fatal - health risks. The most effective pressure ulcer prevention and management programs link to consistent clinical systems and processes of care.

IPRO works closely with nursing homes across the state to reduce pressure ulcer incidences and prevalence. Even if your nursing home isn't working with us currently, we have a variety of resources available to help you improve your pressure ulcer rates.

Please visit our Tools & Resources page to learn more about how your nursing home can better prevent pressure ulcers.

Eliminating the Use of Physical Restraints

Physical restraints can rob nursing home residents of independence and harm their quality of life. IPRO works closely with its partner nursing homes to find alternatives to restraints that allow residents to remain happy and independent while also ensuring their safety.

Please visit our Tools & Resources page to learn more about how your nursing home can reduce its use of physical restraints.
