Basics about Prostate Cancer Screening

The prostate is an organ located below the bladder and in front of the rectum in men. Prostate cancer is a slow growing cancer that only men are at risk for. There is no way to know if you will get prostate cancer. Your risk increases if you are 50 years of age or older, African American or have a father, brother or son with prostate cancer.

Some signs of prostate cancer are: difficulty starting to urinate or empty the bladder completely, a weak or interrupted flow of urine, urinating a lot during the night or pain in the back, hips or pelvis that does not go away.
