Title: CKD/ESRD Patient Education & Awards Luncheon
Description:

Manhattan/Staten Island Patient Advisory Committee Chairs Larry Wilson and Nelson Nunez and the Honorable Theresa Freeman present the 6th Annual CKD Patient Education and Awards Luncheon

The Annual Luncheon will honor nominated patients with an Awards Ceremony, and will have presentations on ESRD treatment modalities, including kidney transplantation.

There is great need for PREVENTION, EDUCATION and AWARENESS to slow the progression of this disease. Because of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), the number of people on dialysis in the United States is rapidly increasing. 1 in 7 people in the United States have some form of CKD, a progressive condition that impairs kidney function, and it is the USA’s ninth leading cause of death. Currently, in the United States there are more than 470,000 people living with ESRD and over 25,000 people are on dialysis in New York State.
