What We Do
IPRO works with clinical offices on EHR selection, adoption, optimization and data reporting as part of many national and state-based initiatives focused on improving healthcare through the use of health information technology.
In our role as the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for New York State, IPRO is encouraging office practices to
take advantage of our assistance with clinical data reporting and to
join in local improvement initiatives that leverage EHR functionality to
increase rates of preventive services and decrease cardiac risk
factors. Among these initiatives, IPRO is convening statewide learning and action networks (LANs) that recognize
everyone has knowledge that can contribute to better care. By
participating in a LAN, physician practices can harness the power of their
community for addressing common challenges, connect with a peer
facility for mentoring and replicate established best practices in their own
facility.
Current QIO Program initiatives for improving population and community
health through effective use of health information technology include:
- Increasing rates of preventive screenings
- Reducing cardiac risk factors
- Supporting availability of more and better clinical quality data
- Connecting EHRs to quality improvement
